Sexually Transmitted Infections (STDs)

Sexually transmitted infections affect people from all backgrounds and walks of life.  Anyone who has sexual contact is at risk for contracting a sexually transmitted infection.  A person can contract an STI from a single sexual interaction. There are about 19 million new cases of STIs/STDs in the United States each year.  Half of all these cases are  among youth ages 15-24.

It is important that if you choose to be sexually active that you take responsibility for your sex life.  Get tested and require that your partner also get tested.  Remember that some STIs/STDs do not cause any symptoms, so do not assume that because you are symptom free, you are STI free.
