- Many restuarants and fast food chains make nutrition facts available in print and online, take a look before you go or ask when you get there to compare your favorite items
- Think variety, and choose foods from different food groups, in moderate amounts
- Hold the mayo, or other sauces. Don't be afraid to customize your order
- If you know you will be eating out, plan the rest of your meals accordingly. Choose lower fat, or calorie options as other meals.
- Look for "heart healthy", "low fat" or "light"options

- Watch your portion size, take half home with you or share with a friend
